Storm Water & Drainage Project Success

At Centrel Services, we recently completed a comprehensive residential storm water and drainage project for a homeowner in Daytona Beach, FL struggling with severe property flooding. During Central Florida’s notorious heavy rainstorms, water was consistently pooling dangerously close to the home's foundation and completely washing out the landscaping near the driveway. Our team was called in to assess the grading and design a robust underground water management system to mitigate these ongoing issues. After a thorough site evaluation, we proposed a tailored drainage solution involving the installation of strategically placed catch basins and a network of durable PVC piping to efficiently redirect surface water away from the vulnerable areas. The execution of this project required a careful balance of heavy machinery for the long trenches and meticulous hand-digging near existing utilities to ensure zero disruptions to the property. By establishing the correct slope and utilizing high-capacity drainage pipes, we effectively transformed the homeowner’s yard. The results were immediate and highly successful. Following the next major downpour, the yard remained completely dry, with all storm water safely routed to the designated municipal runoff zone. The customer was absolutely thrilled with the transformation, expressing profound relief that their foundation was finally secure and their yard was usable again regardless of the weather. Our dedication to clear communication, swift execution, and leaving the job site spotless made this project an outstanding success, demonstrating our commitment to delivering top-tier storm water solutions to our local community. We truly value such positive feedback from our extremely satisfied clients. Always.

Precision Hand Excavation Phase

A crucial phase of this drainage project involved the careful installation of a primary cleanout and catch basin right alongside the customer's driveway. Because this specific area contained sensitive existing utility lines and was located immediately adjacent to the paved concrete surface, we opted for precision hand excavation rather than bringing in heavy machinery. Using standard shovels and meticulous digging techniques, our crew carefully carved out the necessary depth and width to accommodate the vertical PVC riser. As shown in the photo, the white vertical pipe is securely positioned at the optimal elevation to intercept surface water runoff before it has the chance to pool on the concrete or saturate the adjacent lawn. This access point not only serves as a vital water collection node but also functions as a highly accessible cleanout, ensuring that future maintenance, such as hydro jetting or camera inspections, can be performed quickly and easily without further digging. By taking the time to manually clear the dirt and precisely set the basin, we guaranteed the structural integrity of the nearby driveway while setting a flawless foundation for the rest of the underground piping network that followed. The surrounding soil was later carefully backfilled. Great work.

Trenching With Compact Equipment

Once the primary access points and initial basins were manually set, we brought in our specialized heavy equipment to tackle the long-distance trenching required for the main drainage lines. As depicted in the photo, our skilled operator utilized a John Deere compact mini-excavator to efficiently dig the extended trenches across the front yard. We specifically selected this compact machinery because it provides the perfect balance of robust digging power and a minimal footprint, which significantly reduces the impact on the homeowner's existing lawn and surrounding landscape. Safety is always a top priority on our job sites, which is why you can see the bright orange safety fencing securely erected around the active excavation zone to protect residents and neighbors from hazards. Alongside the trench, sections of heavy-duty white PVC piping lay ready for immediate installation. These durable pipes were seamlessly connected to the primary catch basins and laid at a meticulously calculated downward slope. This precise grading is essential, as it relies on gravity to carry the collected storm water safely away from the residential structure and out toward the proper municipal drainage easement, ensuring a permanent and reliable solution to the property's flooding issues. We truly deliver lasting results.
